I was looking into hand made fonts for my type project to help gather inspiration when creating my own typeface. The images shown above is one set of type that I feel is very effective and stylish whilst remaining quite simple.

Today I was doing research into type posters for the typography project. I was trying to find examples of good and bad type posters. The above posters are all good examples of type posters.

After finishing the drawn templates I created template in illustrator. I think the text that i have used and my use of space needs to be changed I also need to add in some images, as this should help fill the blank space. I will keep working on this template and post the finish design when its completed.

Today I drew up some website template ideas. I tried to create designs that best reflected me and looked stylish and interesting. The following two designs are the best two ideas that I came up with 

• The design that can be seen to the left is a city landscape each window is a button that relates to another page. The gallery of my work will be at the top of the page with each piece of work in a cloud. the user can change the image by selecting the arrow next to the cloud
• The second Design is of a picture frame and paint pallet. the picture frame will contain images form my portfolio and the paint pallet will allow the user to move to a different page.

Higher Education

Today I have been looking at universities and thinking about my academic future. I am hoping to go to university locally as I feel I will be more financially stable. The only universities and courses that have really caught my eye are:

        UCA Canterbury

       UCA Maidstone

       Canterbury College: H and D Graphic Design and Advertising

So far I am leaning  towards the Canterbury College H and D  course as is it will give me to years to decide what area of graphic design to focus on and I feel I will enjoy the course.

Retro Poster Project ( Year 1)

      I created these poster for my retro advertisement project. We were tasked with advertising a product by creating a retro style poster. I decided to advertise Bovril. I created two posters one in a Russian constructivism style and the other in a Roy Lichtenstein inspired pop art style. I think both posters are very effective at advertising the product and clearly resemble the style in which they are meant to represent.

My Graphic Future

I'm still not 100% sure where my future will lie within the field of Graphic design. I will certainly be going on to high education but I have know idea of what area of Graphic Design I wish to study. The most likely scenario will see my staying on at Canterbury College to there High Education course.

I have spoken to many people on the course and they say how well it is run and the professionalism of the tutors and the work.

Finished Lucozade Edge Labels for Packaging Project

I have produced my logo designs for my Lucozade sports drink. As you can see I have stuck with the theme of free running. I think the silhouette of the free runner has worked well and clearly identifies that target audience I am aiming for. I have produced four similar designs for the four different flavors. The only thing that helps distinguish the four flavors is the colour of the gradient e.g red gradient for cherry.

Within Graphic design, we have mainly been printing using CMYK and RGB, web works in a different manner. It uses colours known as Hex Codes. These unique codes give colours there colour. The picture above shows some of these Hex Codes and the colours they represent.

Packaging project

I am currently working on my packaging project. We were tasked with coming up with a label and packaging for a product. I am designing packaging for my own Lucozade sports drink which I have named Lucozade Edge. I am focusing my label design around free running as I feel these athletes need an edge to do the difficult and physical tricks they perform.

My new blogger account

This is my new blogger account, I created this as part of my college course to pass my unit 10 in Web Design. I have also been registering with UCAS as I intend to go onto Higher Education within the field of Graphic Design.

I will keep posting updates of my current projects and work on this blog as well as sites that I find interesting. I hope this blog will give you insight into what I am all about.
